This minnow of the jug range doesn’t diminish the design’s busy bee nature.

Bees en route is a celebration of this most industrious insect we cannot live without. Captured in a loose flying formation around the jug, the bees are accompanied by a solitary ladybird… merrily along for the ride.  The ancient Druids saw the bee as symbolising the sun and celebration, and today they are associated with good luck and prosperity… and did you know there are over 270 species in the British Isles!

Collective noun: A swarm of bees or…

                                                          …sometimes a bike of bees.

It’s amusing to imagine a swarm of bees flying in bicycle formation, but the real reason this is a collective noun for bees is because the word “bike” is an old English word which means a colony, nest, or swarm.
