Robins became a Christmas symbol mainly due to Victorian postmen, nicknamed "Robins" for their red coats, who delivered festive cards, leading artists to depict the bird instead; this merged with older Christian folklore, like a robin getting its red breast while trying to shield baby Jesus from fire, making the bird a cherished winter icon representing cheer and good tidings.

Our products are microwave and dishwasher safe – except gilded items which have a metallic finish - such as this design featuring gold scrolls and robins. Each individual design description will confirm this information. Whilst Blue Artemis bone china is a robust product, we recommend using low temperatures and liquid detergents when washing, or alternatively washing by hand and drying with a soft cloth. Blue Artemis china is unsuitable for oven and freezer use.
